Jamiyyathul Qalam, Khidhumaiy NGO, Ukhlaas Hope, Dhangethi Council, the Women’s Development Committee, Dhangethi Youth and Community Centre, Dhangethi Workers’ Association, and Jamiyyatul Anwar jointly organized an island-wide fundraising campaign to support Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine.
The campaign was conducted from 30 November 2024 to 07 December 2024 across the island of Dhangethi. Funds were raised through multiple community-driven initiatives, including the placement of donation boxes at key locations, the sale of children’s snacks, popcorn, cupcakes, grilled sausages, cotton candy, iced coffee, milk juice, and bottled water. In addition, motorcycle washing and oil-change services were provided to island residents as part of the fundraising efforts.
To further raise awareness, Sheikh Ahmed Fazad delivered an informative speech highlighting the ongoing situation in Palestine. The Scouts of Dhangethi School also played an active role by assisting in the organization and execution of the activities.
As a result of the collective efforts and generosity of the people of Dhangethi, a total amount of MVR 44,688.34 (Forty-Four Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Eight Rufiyaa and Thirty-Four Laari) was successfully raised to support humanitarian assistance for the Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine.
